"Depression is stupid and not a thing that makes me a better writer. One time I went a whole year without writing and I stayed in bed and drank. Fuck your Bukowskisms. I want sunlight and love and running down some street I’ve never been on where it’s warm and cool at the same time and I’m smiling. I want nothing to ever be bad again- and I don’t mean that I want a life free of conflict, I mean that I want a life free of meaningless conflict. Not being able to will oneself to take a shower or leave the house is meaningless. There is nothing to be gained, no lesson to be learned from that kind of life. My heart is stale, my prose is stale. Give me fire if you want to hurt me. Give me something I can taste. There’s nothing romantic or mysterious about where I am. There’s nothing here worth holding onto."

A Bismuth Geode. Looks like a cyborgenetic egg

dear me

when you wake up
and forget how to look at the world with warmth,
when it takes all of the energy you have
to turn off the alarm and open the blinds:
remember this.

when you forget to eat for days and push in your ribs ashamed,
when you look in the mirror
and see your stretches coming back,
the vitamins you take every morning,
the anxiety medicine in your purse
when you can’t fucking breathe
because you had that dream again
and you can’t fucking think straight
because you feel that breath on your neck:
remember this.

when you can’t sleep and stare at the ceiling
playing your past like a projection lit by the glow of your phone,
when you feel like your wings were clipped
by a man who never asked before climbing into your bed,
when you’ve gone months without writing anything
and months of doctors appointments on your schedule:
remember this.

remember that you may still be young
but your bones have held you so strong
please don’t ever let them stop whispering,
please remember this:

you are stronger than this.
you deserve more than this.
you fought the war before it began
and you’ll celebrate the victory long before it’s over.

"I enjoy controlled loneliness. I like wandering around the city alone. I’m not afraid of coming back to an empty flat and lying down in an empty bed. I’m afraid of having no one to miss, of having no one to love."

Photo of merging oceans by Kent Smith taken during an Alaskan cruise. The two bodies of water merge in the middle of the Alaskan gulf and foam develops only at their junction. Different salt percentages within the waters causes different densities, resulting in a difficulty to mix, similar to oil and water.

How cute.

i love these!

This week I made an animated chart of butterflies! These are all butterflies that you can find throughout North America, and I picked the 42 that I thought were the most colorful and unique.

You can check out the full sized GIF here or pick up a poster for your room here :)
